Why is it called “FIR” flooring? What does it mean?

Far-Infrared Technology

has been widely used by the healthcare professionals in medical field because its a non-invasive and beneficial way of therapy.  Ua Floors combined wood flooring with the Far-Infrared Ray technology. When in physical contact with our floors, you are constantly receiving the FIR radiation.

The potential benefits of Far Infrared:

1.     Stimulate body cell and metabolic rate.

2.     Improve vascular endothelial function and blood circulation.

3.     Boost immune system and wound healing process.

4.     Improve detoxification.

5.     Reduce stress.

Will the far-infrared function wear off with cleaning or time?

No. Ua Floors encapsulates far-infrared energy nano-materials within the pores of wood.

Normal cleaning won’t remove the function unless the surface is physically damaged.

What is non-toxic wood flooring? Are there any certifications?

Many people worry about formaldehyde and VOCs when choosing building materials. Ua Floors uses EPA TSCA Title VI certified plywood with PUR adhesives, ensuring not only superior structural stability but also formaldehyde emission levels that are far below the TSCA Title VI limits.

All Ua Floors products comply with the highest international standards, including Japan's F☆☆☆☆. Furthermore, our FloorScore® certification ensures that our TVOC levels meet the strictest indoor air quality requirements. Our test results consistently exceed local green building standards, providing a truly safe and non-toxic environment.

What is the legal status of Ua Floors’ materials?

Ua Floors is committed to using materials sourced from legal forests and in full compliance with the U.S. Lacey Act. Each wood plank of Ua Floors' flooring is produced under the most rigorous standards and scrutiny. With global Net Zero Emission policy, we actively participate in forest adoption programs and promote the increased use of domestically sourced wood.

Does the wood species affect performance and suitability?

Yes, different wood species have different characteristics and stability levels. Ua Floors offers a variety of wood species, and their suitability may vary depending on the environment. For spaces with underfloor heating or large temperature and humidity changes, tropical species, e.g., Tropical Collection, are not recommended. North American hardwoods such as oak, maple, and walnut are generally more stable and suitable for these conditions.

No matter which species you choose, proper temperature and humidity control, along with correct installation, are essential for long-term performance.

Why do engineered hardwood floors’ top layer have different sizes/thicknesses/grades/coatings?

What is acclimation? Why is it important before installation?

Acclimation is the process of storing wood planks in the installation area (48~72 hours).

This prevents excessive expansion or contraction after installation, reducing the risk of gaps or buckling.

How much flooring should I order? Do I need to order extra?

To determine the required quantity, calculate your space’s total square footage (Length x Width). Following NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) guidelines, we recommend adding a waste factor to ensure a seamless installation:

  • Standard Layouts: At least 5-10% extra.
  • Irregular Layouts: Consider up to 15% for spaces with multiple corners, hallways, or alcoves. Same as the unique pattern, for example, herringbone or chevron.
Does the product have a warranty?

Yes. You can request a warranty certificate from your local distributor.

Can Ua Floors’ wood flooring be used in every space? Will it mold or warp?

Wood flooring is suitable for most climate-controlled indoor environments, including living rooms, bedrooms, and commercial spaces. For optimal performance and longevity, maintain a temperature between 60–80°F (15.5–26.7°C) and a relative humidity (RH) level of 40–60%. Utilizing humidifiers during dry winters and dehumidifiers or air conditioning during humid summers will help sustain these ideal conditions.

How do I clean and maintain the wood flooring?

Use a vacuum cleaner, dry mop, or slightly damp cloth. Periodically apply UA WOOD STUDIO essential oil, which helps repel termites, silverfish, and cockroaches while cleaning and conditioning the wood. If you're interested in purchasing our wood essential oils, feel free to reach out to ISAAC.
